Terms of Service
Effective 6 February 2026 · Version 1.0
The short version: your content is yours, we won't sell it, you can cancel anytime, and please don't use AI to cheat.
1 · Acceptance
By creating a StudentEdge account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. We may update these terms; if we make a material change we'll email you at least 14 days before it takes effect.
2 · Your account
You must be at least 18 (or use the service with a parent/guardian's consent) and provide accurate information. You're responsible for what happens on your account — keep your password safe. Don't share accounts; each subscription is for one person.
3 · Acceptable use
Don't use StudentEdge to:
- Submit content that infringes someone else's copyright.
- Generate content that violates your school's academic-integrity policy in a way you know is prohibited — StudentEdge is a writing aid, not a way to commit fraud.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the service.
- Impersonate anyone, resell the service, or use it to build a competing product.
We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these rules.
4 · Subscriptions & billing
Paid plans (Student, Pro) auto-renew each period unless cancelled. Credit packs are one-time purchases and never expire. All billing is handled by Stripe.
No refunds. All sales are final. Because our Free plan lets you fully evaluate every feature before paying, we do not offer refunds on subscriptions or credit packs. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the billing portal to prevent future charges — see our No Refund Policy for details.
Price changes: We may change prices with 30 days' notice. Existing subscriptions honour the price at the time of renewal.
5 · Content ownership
Your content is yours. Everything you write, upload, or generate on StudentEdge — original drafts, rewrites, roadmaps, exports — belongs to you. We claim no ownership over it.
You grant us a limited licence to process your content only as necessary to provide the service (e.g. sending your essay to OpenAI to generate a rewrite, storing it in your account so you can retrieve it later).
StudentEdge's brand — the name, logo, design system, marketing copy, and code — is ours. Don't copy or redistribute it.
6 · AI-generated output
AI-generated text and roadmaps are suggestions, not guarantees. You are responsible for reviewing and editing anything you submit as your own work. StudentEdge is not liable for the accuracy of citations, factual claims, or resource links it generates — always verify before submitting.
Use of AI-generated content in academic settings is subject to your institution's policies. When in doubt, disclose.
7 · Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we're not responsible for downtime caused by our vendors (OpenAI, Stripe, Resend, MongoDB Atlas).
8 · Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudentEdge's total liability for any claim arising out of these terms or the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost profits, lost data, or missed deadlines).
9 · Termination
You can cancel your subscription and delete your account any time from the billing portal or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. On termination we'll delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
10 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the operator of StudentEdge. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the operator's jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country provides otherwise.
